The European Space Agency or ESA is an international organization with 22 Member States from Europe (only Switzerland, Norway and the United Kingdom are not EU Member States) and the associated country Canada. Its mission is to build and develop European space capabilities and to ensure that investment in space benefits European citizens and industry. ESA employs around 2,200 scientists, engineers, IT specialists and administrative staff from all ESA Member States.
Latvia has been a asociate member of the European Space Agency (ESA) since 2020. Membership of ESA is a key element of the Space Strategy of Latvia 2021-2027, enabling Latvian companies and research institutes to bid on ESA tenders to develop technologies, services and business applications.
Currently, 2 projects are being actively implemented:
1) Establishing RT-16 S-band uplink and downlink RF to IF chain for TT&C service (RTGS)
2) Development and production of a universal measuring system that meets the requirements of the ECSS standards system (MeasureRight)
