The Aim of the Project:
The funds allocated are intended for the development of the new low-frequency radio astronomy array (LOFAR) in the Irbene radio complex.
Activities:
- Complete and commission the construction of the LOFAR Latvia antenna field.
- Install LOFAR–LATVIA equipment and enter a single International Lofar telescope (ILT) network.
- Complete the formation of the DART laboratory.
- Finish the upgrading of high-performance computing (HPC) server.
Project Result:
- A new generation radio telescope LOFAR (low-frequency radio astronomy array) has been developed.
- The LOFAR station has been integrated into the International LOFAR Telescope (ILT) network.
