Contracts are being concluded for the construction of the Irbene radio telescope complex

Within the project No. 1.1.1.4/17/I/010"3rd Round of Modernization of Irbene Radio Telescope Complex" it is planned to complete the renovation works of the radio telescopes started in 2011. Within the framework of these measures, in the summer of 2018 it is planned to create a safety ladder at the top of the RT-32 support grid, anti-corrosion treatment of RT-32 support grid inner surfaces, as well as to do RT-32 support grid base pipe surface cleaning, anti-corrosion treatment and surface painting.

For the construction works, an agreement was concluded with Ltd. “Akro” for the total contract price (excluding VAT) of EUR 167,752.80. To supervise the construction works in accordance with the legislation, an agreement on construction supervision has been concluded with Ltd. “Built EX” for the total amount of EUR 3,900.

According to the concluded agreements, the construction works must be completed by 10.09.2018, while the documentation and handover of the object must be completed by 30.11.2018.

These works will significantly improve the resistance of the radio telescope RT-32 metal support structure against the effects of the external environment, as well as improve the working environment of VIRAC engineering staff.
