Ventspils University of Applied Sciences organizes international conference on astroinformatics and space data processing in the Baltics - BAASP2019

March 26, 2019

On August 21-23, Ventspils University of Applied Sciences Institute of Engineering “Ventspils International Radio Astronomy Centre” (VIRAC) is organizing the sixth annual international conference “Applied Astroinformatics and Space Data Processing in the Baltics” / “Baltic Applied Astroinformatics and Space Data Processing” (BAASP2019). It is both a business and scientific conference of the Baltic region, where scientists from different countries will participate and discuss current problems in astrophysics, interdisciplinary solutions in information and data processing related to space and space object observations, including solar and Earth observations and remote sensing from artificial satellites

Selected articles will be published in the Latvian Journal of Physics and Technical Sciences, Astronomical and Astrophysical Transactions (AApTr) or Proceedings of Science (PoS).

The main topics of the conference are:

• Space research;

• Space technologies;

• Space and industrial IT solutions.

• Modern advanced radio astronomical instruments;

• Basic research in astronomy and astrophysics.

One of the strongest astronomical instruments in the Baltic region is the 32-meter radio telescope of the Ventspils International Radio Astronomy Centre. Most of the reports are related to this tool and its use in cooperative surveillance, such as the impressive Very Long Base High-Definition Interferometric Radio Observations.
